<long post ahead. I am embarrassed>
Ok. So I had said that I'll make a novel worth 50,000 words within the month. But fact is, I can't. Producing such an output within a short period of time is just beyond my capabilities.

Giving up just a week before the end of NaNoWriMo wounds my pride, really. But I've thrown on the side a lot of important things for this "novel": school, hours of sleep spent on writing because I couldn't write earlier, my time with my friends and such. In addition, I'm also way behind the word count and I'm suffering a horrid slump which, coupled with my innate ability to space out for hours, will only provide me more sleepless, stressful nights, and perhaps a weeeee amount of progress. I'm just not programmed for this kind of thing and submerging myself into NaNoWriMo, I had thought I could get rid of my awful habits. Which in the end I found to be impossible.

NaNoWriMo had not been a waste of time. The brief 2 weeks had given me a chance to write even just a few chapters of Trifles and Mishaps, something I would not have been capable of if I was just left to lallygag on my own. Without NaNo, I would have still been groping my way through the novel, in the dark, with a blindfold on. And darkness would be composed of poisonous spikes and egotistic ants who don't know how to die. It gave me a chance to look into Alasdair's past, into his family, into his inner workings which I wish I could have delved into much better in the manuscript. And I hope I can.

I thank those who cheered me on, endured my emofagging and had given me their support. You know who you guys are. I'm sorry that all my drama had only come to such a sorry and dull end.

I thank NaNoWriMo for...uh, existing, for providing a hellish, yet gratifying experience for masochistic writers about. Also, NaNoWriMo Philippines for having me and for just being such an awesome and nice bunch of people. To novelists about still struggling towards 50k, I wish you all luck!

I will still be working on the novel, however. Just that I will not be limiting myself within NaNoWriMo's word count and time span. I might redo the whole thing, just rewrite and fix odd ends and bits and pieces, I might do the macarena and dance all night, but I'll continue with this little imp of a work. Because I'm still kinda masochistic like that.

And I think I'll still be trying next year. Yes. hurhurhur.
